Check engine light after M30 AFM and intake

    Hi all,

I have put on 19lb injector, Variable fuel pressure regulator, weber fuel pump and MarkD chip. The car was running fine except maybe a bit too rich.
This morning I install the M30AFM with cold air intake, and I start getting check engine light after several miles of driving.
Any idea what could went wrong? Am I running too lean? Do i need to adjust the throttle cable or fuel pressure regulator?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Ditch the m30 afm and the adjustable fpr and try again.

M30 afm is a drop-in upgrade but usually you need to adjust it little bit .. if you have an adjustable fpr then it's a good idea to play with that too ..

^edit - digger beat me to it.

Something tells me you're operating outside of what MarkD sells the chip for. No?

You can't just throw parts at things and expect it to all work together automagically.

MarkD sells a chip that is set up for a very specif combination(depending on what you buy, is what you get). Throw a few random parts into the mix, and it won't work. It's not his fault - it's just very limited.

                Hi all,
The fault code is 1222. So maybe I have a leak, or I am running too lean, or something else? Thanks for your help in advance!

So using M30 AFM requires a different chip? Is that right?

                    Leaks....

So it seems like my intake hose from the AFM to the throttle body was cracked. Good that I have a spare one (yes I brought a spare one just in case, now comes in handy) and redo the whole setup. I've driven the car for ~20 miles now and no check engine light thus far, so I hope the leak was the issue :)

Yes, the M30 AFM requires a specific chip to have it running right. The registered airflow to voltage in the M30 AFM is not the same as the M20 AFM. This will lead to fueling that is incorrect which could lead to damage over time.

The true underlying issue... did you check if you swapped the m20 out for a m30 to go with that AFM?
