    Engine upgrades for 1991 325ix

What are some upgrades I can do that are fairly straight forward to my M20 ix that will increase horsepower? Is adding a turbo and blow off valve fairly easy? Cold air intake? Is there anything I can do to the exhaust? I am just wondering since I am fairly new to most of this. Thanks

There is a lot if information over in the 325iX section on this - do a search. My understanding is that the front shaft splines and the front differential are the weak links under major turbo power.

As far as turbos go, there should not be many differences between the AWD and RWD and again, there is a ton of information here - search.

If you go turbo, you will need to manage the engine, so again - lots of information here over in the alternative tuning section - search.

    Cheers

Build a stroker, throw on a performance cylinder head, add a chip, MAF conversion, etc.

We offer some goodies at BimmerHeads. Let me know if I can help out.

My budget is probably around 1000.00. Is ebay trustworthy to buy turbos? My goal is just to increase acceleration as of now.

$1000 turbo budget isn't going to end well. I'd spend it on a tune up (replace any and all worn parts) and if you have anything left, put it into the head.

I wouldn't even think of turboing something with that budget.

IF you are up to date on maintenance, I'd maybe look into a mild cam from bimmerheads, or a used milder schrick.

IMO there's not a lot of power to be made from an M20 without a lot of complementing mods all around.

with that budget i would spend a fair chunk on a maintenance and maybe a squid chip or miller PSIK.
