what is this hose @ throttle body?

What is this hose @ throttle body & where does it go? It dives under the manifold, and I can't trace it even with a flashlight and mirror on a stick. I'm trying to clean up the spaghetti under the manifold. 1991 325i.

      Valve cover breather hose.

It continues under the manifold and attaches to the top of the valve cover near the rear of the engine.

That's good news, I can delete the coolant connections at the TB (I live in the desert). Much appreciated.

you can, and mine are, but expect more oil build up in your intake. TB heater supposedly helps with oil vapor condensing in the intake system.

I wouldn't delete your throttle body heater; replacing the gasket is cheap and easy. Throttle body icing can still happen at temperatures well above freezing.

I bypassed mine. I only had an issue once in 6 years. Felt like the car had 2500rpm rev limiter. 5 minutes of wondering wtf is wrong with my car later, the engine was fully up to temp and the problem went away.

It was 7 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I drove plenty of times in sub freezing temps and only once had an issue.

Not too much of an issue in NV, but I would never do it here in ME.

I doubt you'd have a problem in ME, either. The TB heater is something they installed to satisfy the lawyers after someone had the throttle stick open under highly unusual weather conditions.

When I got my car, mine was disabled. I had to buy a replacement throttle body to fix it because the screws were broken off on the existing one and someone tried to drill those out and failed miserably. Those screws are a biatch--the break off so easily! On the replacement TB, two of the heads broke off on me, too. So then I had to drill out the old screws and re-tap with slightly larger allen bolts. What a pain in the ass that was. Anyways, mine is properly working again after a ton of fussing around and now I feel stupid for even bothering.

What part of Maine are you in? Just curious since I don't see too many E30s up here.
