    Pump all the fuel out, start fresh after changing the filter. Also change the soft lines under the hood and around the filter. A car sitting that long is going to be all dried out.

    Also, as mentioned, change the belt, immediately.

    I would rather do a timing belt job again vs buying all new valves, rockers and maybe even a head casting if the belt did in fact break in the mean time.

      What would suck more would be to have a salvageable head that you grenade cause you are cruising around trying to diagnose a car that you know is a ticking time bomb.

      On the one hand, you waste a timing belt and a few hours..on the other hand you swap an engine.

          Do the timing belt and water pump before anything else, especially driving like you stole it.
