    smoke screen out the tailpipe

So i noticed a wierd thing with my car today. Upon startup a good amount of white smoke comes out of the exhaust up until the engine warms up, then the smoke comes out in small bursts no matter the outside temperature. If i drive the car around and then let it idle however, no smoke persists out the exhaust, the problem only exists upon start. Should this be something to worry about? my car is a 90' 325i

Blue smoke on startup and deceleration (like an exit ramp or long hill) is valve guide seals. White steam could be just condensation in the exhaust and hopefully not a cracked block/head or failing head gasket. Keep an eye on the coolant!

The M20 puts out a prodigious amount of moisture when it's warming up....

He's in the rainforest north of Vancouver (best skiing anywhere). When I lived in BC you'd get white smoke on start up just from the ambient humidity and cool exhaust

I noticed that there's a lot of water that comes out as well. I live in Whistler BC so that definately explains it

If you drive short trips so the engine doesn't get good and warm condensation can accumulate in the exhaust. Standing moisture and h2so4 = very short lifespan of your pipes.

Try to ge t out on the Sea to Sky for a good romp as often as you can.
