        Ya you did, but with my help! haha I made the confusing.

        The moral of the story is, I WOULD use this gasket if my head was skimmed, but It costs money to get a head skimmed, and while I'm there I may as well do valve work, porting ETC, and at that point, you've put so much money into just the head, it would be silly to reuse a headgasket, if you have the money for a rebuild just kill another 200 and get a new gasket.

        But If I was to say screw it, and turbo this motor stock, I may say screw it, Doing headgasket on an m30 is a 2 night job at most, by yourself.

        This is all hypothetical to be honest, chances are, she will stay stock until I find interest in another swap, or I plan to turbo this beast.

          I think the biggest difference is the detachable bell housing, not strength. I will be running the 240, but no boost.

            I would post some links to my e28 but you don't want them haha. I'm sure the 265 is plenty strong however, as long as you aren't dumping the clutch in first...

              The only reason I say that though is because that is where I went for my information regarding this whole g265/6 vs g260/6 thing.

              People say they are the same internals, but why would the g265 box be slightly longer? If the extra 3/4 is there, what is taking up that void? It can't be that the g265 has a 3/4 inch hollow spot in it.. Do parts numbers cross and I haven't done my homework? If it's simply a large bell housing I'll make the assumption that the throw out bearings on g265s would be thicker in order to make up for the depth.

              The problem I hear with g265's are with people who consistently skip 1st gear from a stop and pursue 2nd as their new 1st gear and end up with bearing problems.

                the one with the 1st-2nd confusion is the 265/5 dogleg box. The 265/6 is a related overdrive box, and both have completely different (beefier) internals to the 260/6.

                  Great clarification right there. I would feel comfortable with either tranny and wouldnt hesitate to drop it in 1st with either tranny.

                  I like the g265 for every reason, I'll be using the e30 m3 tranny brace, which makes the g260 brace look like a tin can!

                          This is where I need motivation man... my parts list is great for turbocharging!
                          I have nearly the full turbo kit, I'm missing a return line and the work associated with tapping a return line.

                          I have the megasquirt 2 from diypnp, LC-1 wideband, coilpack, iat sensor; The engine already has arp headstuds.. blah blah.. I'm about 85 percent ready parts wise.

                          but for some reason I feel the "want" to sell the turbo parts.. the other side tells me "wtf are you thinking?"

                            small update, nothing gnarly, got out in the 20 degree weather and spent a couple hours on getting the wiring lose, I came to the obviously conclusion, if I want ABS I need the entire wiring harness off the parts car.

                            This is the fun part, but It's been a leisure journey, jammin good tunes, and laughing with friends, makes this job seem effortless.. its more time if anything.







                            Just title every wire you unplug/remove.. easy.

                              Getting parts car on lift and start removal of parts.

                              sold turbo kit, bought otis turbo manifold, M5 clutch,TB,etc.

                                Hey guys, so I am helping out with this project and stealing some parts off the parts car for my M30 swap too. Did some work on it tonight to prep for taking the motor out.

                                Front suspension and steering rack removed.



                                GC suspension and BBK off the car.



                                Also cleaned up the BBS wheels.



                                This one got curbed and will need some repair.



                                Rear rotors removed and getting the rear subframe ready to pull out.



                                Thats all for tonight. Motor and trans will be out before the weekend, more updates soon!
