Hey Burns,
any chance that you ran into IE headers fitment issues because of being too far back?
I remember reading somewhere that someone ran IE headers with OEM rubber bushings (instead of the polyurethane) and only put the firewall back about an inch and a bit.
I want to run the IE headers, but I dont want to run into the same situation you did!

Christ yes.
I had many fitment issues.
Not sure if it's because I have a vert, but I needed some very custom exhaust bending($$$$$) to make them clear the tranny tunnel, and had to hammer in one header to clear a mount bolt.
They have a great sound, not really sure about actual performance tho.
They looks great too.
