Haha, I didn't mean get rid of the motor, I meant get rid of the car. But why would I want to do that after I get ALL this work into it.

Well I guess this is an update

        I have done...
        have the cooling system out
        power steering lines/pump off
        all the fluids drained
        a/c disconnected
        exhaust/manifolds off (what a bitch!)
        Heats shields off
all wires disconnected from the motor
cut the carpet out because the sunroof was left open by the PO or the trucker and it was sooked (alittle surface rust)

What I think I need to do..
Def. need to disconnect the driveshaft
undo some of the shift linkage
unbolt the tranny, slide back and remove with floor jack if possible
unbolt motor and connect to cherry picker...REMOVE!

        couple questions>>
Do I need to remove the alternator, fan, a/c (I think I am getting the condensor confused..which ever is connected to the motor)?

As for the shift linkage. What and where do I need to remove it? All from the tranny or just to a certain point?

And one more, How should I take the motor out? Should I take the tranny off, slide it back and remove it from the bottom the take the motor out the top? or do I need to take it with the motor? I don't have room to take the motor from the bottom so that won't be happening.

Where should I connect the cherry picker aka engine hoist to the motor to take it out?

What can I do about the surface rust inside the car? I was just thinking about cleaning as much of it off as I can and POR-15ing it.

        Thanks guys!

Alt and A/C compresser can stay on the engine. The fan may have to be removed if the rad is still in but I am not sure.

Shift linkage is usually removed from the trans from the bitch clip on the top of the trans. When you are under there, you will see what I mean.

The rust and por15 plan is a good idea.

          Thats all I know.

I have read mix reviews. Do I need a specail tool to get the fan off the front of the motor? The rad. is out if that helps.

I guess the big question is, should I take the motor and tranny out together? or should I drop the tranny from the bottom and the motor through the top?

Thanks for all the help guys. Makes me feel alittle better that I can actually do this right.

Alright I figured most of the stuff out. I left the fan/ac/alternator on. I am going to take the tranny and motor out the front. I have the shifter linkage all done (for some reason I dont' have a bitch clip, it looks like modified shift linkage).

                My big question now...

Where should I put the 4 chains on the motor so I can pull the baby out!??!!

There is a mounting hole in the rear above the starter. clip into that. hope you have skinny arms!!! There should be a lift hook in the front.

haha, I don't have skinny arms but I know some people that do! Thanks and I hope I can find it. Is it pretty easy to see? I guess I am wondering, is it going to be obvious or not?

                      Thanks

Just a quick question to make sure I do this correctly.

I will connect 2 chains to the rear of the motor (Joe's presented picture) with a hefty ass bolt and nut

Then I need to connect the 2 front chains to something...is this where I need to connect to or is there some where else? (I only see this one so I dont' see another on the other side)

                            Thanks

Not there, that is your timing chain tensioner.

Keep looking - it's by the t-stat housing if memory serves.

Is it going to be another one of those loops?
