One, how do I get to TCD with the motor out of the car? HAYNES SUCKS!!! I want to get the timing chain off so I can get this head off by next week.

Two, How do I loosen this damn bolt? I have tried everything..maybe!
Also is this bolt reverse thread? I still can't get it off. Do I need to get it off to take the timing chain off?

I don't think it is reverse thread? I will check on one that I have here.

happy 21st birthday, by the way.

There are no reverse thread anything in the head. It should take about 1 to 1.5 hours to get the head off with the motor in the car... Do you need my assistance? Do you need me out there?

YES! I am about to got work on it again. How do you get the timing chain away from the head so it comes off?

Alright well I guess I should update. Obviously this thing hasn't moved so I will be working on it for the next month (in 2 weeks) when I am home for break.

I have replaced the entire interior. Hounds tooth front sport seats and door panels. Grey parcel shelf and grey carpet. I have a new dash that I will be putting in. I will also be putting the below wheels on it, was going to put them on the vert but have decided against it. In 3 weeks the chassis and motor will be delivered to my BMW mechanic. He will go over the motor and replace the gaskets plus check the head for cracks. The chassis will get new brake lines. Also, I have ground down the surface rust on the floor board and none of it is through the floor so it cleaned up nice.

After the motor is done, I will paint it with POR-15 engine paint just the block though.

I waxed some of the car and it actually doesn't have THAT bad of paint. The hood and trunklid are shit paint but the rest isn't bad. Also it will be getting US ellips (if you have any for sale let me know) and a new valance. It still needs a windshield but this month I will go to a junkyard and get one (also if you have one let me know).

              I don't know if I need to replace the clutch or flywheel. Any suggestions? Does an e34 M5 clutch/flywheel fit on a e28's 3.2/3.5 w/ g260?

Also, can anyone tell me where to get metric blue head bolts and what part number they are? I saw the website but don't really know what to buy. Also, what pressure should I torque the head bolts down too?

Official title is Murder He Wrote haha. It will be a black/black/black car
              Thanks

Also can someone let me know. I haven't looked yet and am planning on getting urethane motor/tranny mounts.

Are these mounts from the 5 or the 3 series?

                Thanks

The m30 is a tight fit - both front to back AND top to bottom. I have custom mounting brackets - and run a stock m20 rubber mount. It's sagging a bit - but nothing too bad.

Just keep in mind hood/subframe clearance issues.

Remember I took the motor out of the e30 so I know how tight a fit it is. (not trying to sound like an ass). I just remember having to take the motor out with the front clip because I couldn't get my hand in between the motor and firewall.

Going to urethane shouldn't make a difference in height though right? Also, the rubber mounts above are those from the 5 series?

                    Thanks

you can use the M5 clutch and flywheel on the M30...

Those mounts look to be from an M42 or M50 car...

Joe you have any M5 clutchs/flywheels? I can't afford new ones I don't think. Aren't they extremely expensive?

Also, the motor mounts make sense since the car is a 318i. So I think Ill just get urethane M42 mounts to replace those.
                        Thanks again

Where can I get the started checked? Is this something that a place like Autozone can do?

Ya you can pull out the starter and take it to autozone and they test it for free
