Also, you are going to need a throttle body from an earlier car, or an earlier TPS.

Okay, so I just read through all 6 pages of this and the only part I'm confused on is the transmission. I'm doing the same swap but into a 87is. Yay for me, I get to keep the wiring. However, which transmission do I need? Sorry, to thread jack a little but I got confused and figured I'd ask while the subject was still hot. Will a 84 633csi transmission work?sigpic

Oh, and another thing, the engine I have is from an automatic... Does this matter at all? I just need to find a computer for a manual 535i, right? Or will mine work?sigpic

OK, I'm getting to the final stages of my swap (it should be done sometime this week) and I have a few questions left than need answering. I have a lead on an 87i harness, but it looks like I wont be getting it in time. So my questions are:
Harness- what do I need to do with the one I have now (e34 535i stick)? I need this pretty detailed because I suck at wiring.
Coolant hoses-what do I use? I'm thinking e32/4 upper and lower radiator hoses, but what ones do I need to hook up the heater-core and an early e30 overflow tank?
Alternator- can I use my eta one, or do I need a m30 one?
And my lower timing case oil seal doesn't hit anything on the inner side but I think it is supposed to sit on the timing chain gear. An I correct, and if so, how do I fix it? This is kind of hard to explain, I'll try to get a picture of it tomorrow.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me with this so far.Byron

Coolant hoses- I'd say you're going to have to do this custom. I just bought some 3/4 inch hose from an auto parts store and ran it all the way around to use the heater core.
Alternator- use an m30 one, i dunno about you car but my 325i the m30 belt was too big for the pulley
about the wiring, I'm almost doing the reverse wiring, since im downgrading my motronic, the easiest way is just to find pinouts and match them up, and when I say easy I mean not easy at all considering the ETM's are a pain in the ass to navigate if you don't know what you're doing.
here should be the pins for the e34 c101, go to the e28 one and look under M30 b35 Motor Conversion(Electrics)

its like most of the way down the page
someone else will have to help you with the e30 sideOriginally posted by LJ851I programmed my oven to turn off when my pizza was done, should i start a build thread?
