Back to the rubber motor mounts: I know the e30 mounts will work, but would some from an e34 work also? This seems like it would be better suited for the car.

I'm sure the e30 ones are fine, but if you do happen to have a set of e34 ones I'd say give it a go.

Sidenote: Would you happen to know anything about swaping an auto m30 engine harness and tps into say a l-jet car, or do you have a pin layout of the c101, c104 etc.. e34 auto harness?

I need to buy new ones anyways, so I was wondering if they would fit.

I have been trying to find that information for Cory (hendrixvodu) for a while also, and I haven't come up with anything.

What should I use for a throw out bearing? I was just going to order a normal e28 one, but then I saw that there was a different one for use with the Sachs sport clutch kit, which makes me wonder if it has to be matched to the clutch. I have a e28 tranny(260/5 I think) and an e34 M5 clutch.

hey that second one is my thread

btw E30SPDFRK if you need anything for a clutch I'd suggest asking steve haygood, his info is in the vendors endorsed over at mye28, he's a real nice guy and got me everything I needed for my clutch.

Yeah, i saw you were over there. That was just a good pic of a 260. Did you verify it was a 260/5? It looks different than mine, but the bellhousing doesn't look that much smaller. I have a 260/6 out of an E34. If it still has the VIN tag on the side of the tranny you can run it through Realoem to find out what it came from.

My transmission is out of a 88 535i. I'm not too good with tranny #'s yet.

If it's the original, it should be a 260/6 and no problem for clearance with the clutch.

And as far as the TO bearing, the M5 bearing should work.

Sweet, thanks. I think I'll check with Steve to make sure the TO is correct.

Pics of my transmission for clarification:

Does that look like a 260/6?

Which way does the tensioner spring go? I forgot to check when I took it out.

I thought that the 280 only came with ribs like that...I could be wrong though.

Ok, wtf is up with this.

My tensioner doesn't line up with the tensioner rail. Is it supposed to fit this way? Everything seems to be in the correct place, but the chain isn't centered on the rail.

yes, it is a 260, the 280 has the fins (i think) but the 280 is abit longer, it has another piece (about 2" spacer piece, if you will) between the rear section and the main body...
