What coolant is used for the m44?

I've resolved a coolant leak that came from a silicone hose that wasn't tight enough round the radiator however it has now gone low, it's blue and I know this engine is an aluminium block so I would like to know what is the right coolant for this engine so i can top it up

    Thanks

i moved all of ours over to the vw/audi/porsche pink stuff. it's cheaper than the blue, far easier to source, and is compatible. we have vw as well so it makes stocking the garage a lot easier.
bmw used to be listed on the product, but they didn't want to pay for the labeling and prefer to push the blue.

The M44 is known for cooling system problems including head gasket issues. I would stick to the BMW Blue for that car just because I have had such amazing luck with the product for so long. I assume it is formulated for the materials used in our cars. If you are starting out with a new head gasket, you might save a $10 dollar bill per gallon on other formulas. You know about the plastic M44 fittings on the left side of the block and the rear side of the head I'm hoping - change them every 5-10 years as they are a ticking time bomb!
