Thanks guys. All input is greatly appreciated.

Yeah – at this point, more run time sounds good. If something gets worse – then it was meant to be. If it gets better – great. I have some Redline ATF that I’ll add.

Tensioner: at first, I ran the one that was in there (I’m pretty methodical) After it made that noise, I extended a new one and installed it. I can assure you there was loose chain noise for ~3-6 seconds – then it went away. It was a lot louder and scarier than the noise you hear in the video.

Guides: All new/updated versions. Installed Saturday.

If it sounds fast, it might be due to multiple dry lifters – which, again, make sense because they would’ve been drained pretty damn well while head was in multiple positions over the week. Also, the fouled #1 & #3 would indicated a more wide-spread issues (all dry lifters) – rather than a possible bent valve.

and guys – thank you again. I’m gonna rev the fucker – and hopefully not r3v the fucker.

Go romp on it. Same thing happened when I would burn oil due to my shitty CCV system on my m42 turbo.

You are OK bro!! dont worry it is out of time one teeth all you have to do is move the chain one teeth and then before you start the engine make sure you crank it with a range two turns to make sure you move the chain in the right direction if it is free then start the car and it would be no more diesel sound like it would go back to gas engine. call me if you want (818) 674-0462
                where are you located?

your motor wouldn't be idling that well if you had a bent valve. easy way to tell would be a dry leak test just to rule it out completely. I'd have to agree it sounds like noisy lifters.

As said before, hydraulic lifters, just go for a drive. When i changed my HG also had horrible lifter clapper, drove it and went back to smooth

if driving it does not work pull the cams and get to the lifters. Youll want to put a 0w oil in there, or something else heavy. Pump some oil in the port on the lifters and reinstall.

Thanks Hick - looks like I'll be trying that tomorrow..

After an hour and fifteen of run time (1.5-2.5K rpm) - no change.

Idle is rough. Can sticky lifters cause rough idle?
