    Aftermarket driveshaft cons/pros

Anyone have experience with an aftermarket driveshaft? Built by a driveshaft shop . I’m in the market for a e36 M3 one for my s50 swap . Unfortunately the one that I got is giving me a good vibration right before I shift to 3rd and also when I accelerate in 3rd gear . By now all these stock oem driveshafts are 25+ year old plus unknown mileage . A new bmw one cost 1200$ or so a driveshaft shop one 5-600 . Any input greatly appreciated

Driveline Service of Portland used to do a good job. I have heard that they're not doing BMW any more, but have not checked.

There are several shops in Georgia- but I can't remember which one does custom work.

So yes, having one made or re- spidered does work. I personally only do it when there isn't a stock
option out there- the 50+ year old versions on the 2002s are still going strong.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

I've used this place for my M3. Driveshaft comes with CSB. When new arrived, just shipped out old one. No issues so far. Been a few years with the new driveshaft.

I also got a custom built driveshaft from these guys. Easy to work with, custom length, and replaceable u-joints.

I think I've purchased 4 driveshafts for 3 different cars from them and they have been great.

I ordered a new shaft from driveshaft specialists in Texas . But now I got the driveshaft back on . Before with the old shaft I would get a vibration shifting from 2nd to 3rd maybe 20-30% of the time . Now with the new shaft I’m getting a really bad shake from 3rd to 4th and at cruising speeds between 30-40mph . It’s noticeably much worse . Any help would be much appreciated . Guibo support bearing all mounts are new

Bring it back to the shop and have them fix the shaft properly?

So after looking over things correctly I figure out my problem is a revshift smal/big guibo poly adapter . . I have the e30 driveshaft with that adapter . So luckily the driveshaft place in Texas is going to take the driveshaft back and they are going to modify it to the e36 end and in going to use the oem guibo . Great customer service!!!
