Are the m3 covers worth it on a street car that sees spirited driving?Leave a comment:

I really can't see a scenario where this is useful for a street car, considering the price. As TobyB said race cars can run an oil cooler for the diff, I bet it probably costs less. All sorts of people run second mounts, turbo and V8 swap guys. If you beat on the car it has been documented that the mount can fail, especially if the subframe is allowed to move too much because of worn out bushings and wheelhop abuse.Leave a comment:

I know quite a few people are fans of the finned oem covers. I have also heard some talk of people maybe running e36 covers as well. This won't be a racecar (not anytime soon), but I am mostly curious about the secondary mount, and if the addition of fins makes that much of a difference. my rear cover has a big gouge in the bushing ring so I want to get a new cover, or possibly weld the gouge. Are many people running secondary mounts, or just the v8 swap guys?Leave a comment:

that's a lot of euro to solve a problem only a few race cars may have...
...and they usually solve it with a pump and an oil cooler. And Swepco.
The knockoff Z3M covers that were sold years back were a couple hundred bucks and did a fair job, too.

Aftermarket differential covers and secondary mounts
Has anyone tried aftermarket differential covers and/or secondary mounts on their differentials on E30s with medium case LSDs? These seem to be a newer development and I am unfamiliar with them. The Racing Diffs one seems to improve oil flow, but I am not well versed in fluid dynamics. I am interested in what people's opinions are on them and any improvement they may offer for durability/longevity.

That's where the E30 dual mount conversion comes in. An absolute must for V8 swaps. By adding a second mounting point you are effectively spreading the load your stock diff mount and bushing
There are probably others but I stumbled across these first. Thanks in advance.
