i have the Factory manual if you want to look at it
I would be interested in this. We have one trans that lost 4th gear, and another with a broken tailstock and leaking input shaft (can't get a seal to hold, surface pitting on shaft from sitting outside). If I could make 1 out of 2 that would be great, we have another 2 spare trannys lined up so this will be an off season "always wanted to do that" project.

    Keep it slideways!!

I have made my own bmw tool out of some piping and am splitting the getrag just like this

Damn that video and the bently made it seem so easy

So your in castle rock? I'm in denver, I might have to take you up on that offer and check out that manual. All I have is the bently and so far have followed the first few steps but either the bently or I seem to be missing a step

Btw I seem to have the exact same problem you had before( ix manual trans stuck in reverse)

just moved to Castle rock 1 month ago ,still settling in ,let me know if you want to stop by see some of my collection and shoot the breeze, or if you want help , have quite a few tools too

yup its a common problem (got my IX cheap because of that), be sure to check the allen bolt up on top and as your splitting the case i would remove it and Red loctite it . i did that to mine and the Z3 shifter upgrade ,new seals and its dry, tight and no shift problems in 20k miles
