I have an M62 block with the U-shaped guide and no idler sprocket.
The M60 stuff bolts right on. What do you need specifically, I'll take pics for you?

Based on photos I've seen of the S62 block and the M60 block, it looks like the idler sprocket mount will bolt right up to the block, but the lower mount for the right bank's upper chain guide isn't present in the S62 block, due to the different routing of the coolant passages.
I was just curious... Wasn't expecting you to go out of your way.

What I really need to do is get that damned Jeep 4.0 off my engine stand so that I can put my S62 on the stand and take the timing cover apart to see.

Have you sorted this out yet? as far as knowing what you are going with? I only ask because I have the same tranny. Im glad you took it apart to look into everything. Looking forward to the comparisons of both engines.

I had to re-do the timing the other day, somehow got the two cams out of phase...not sure how that happened with cams tools

Anyways, timing is set, new knock sensors in place, manifold, tb,rear pcv ready to be bolted down.

Haven't installed the upper timing cover gaskets yet, needs to double-check the torque specs for a) sprockets bolts b) upper timing cover bolts c) valve cover nuts.

Waiting for rebuilt / flow matched injectors to arrive. Water pump/tstat is next once I figure out exactly how the rear water pipe needs to be modified to match the e30 firewall/heater core.

                Bolts right on?

                Did you ever take pics?

I'm thinking of picking up an M62 powered Rover sometime and would like to do this when I decide to go through the timing components.

If there is a bit of slack in the wrong place, this can happen.

Love that double row chain. This thing is sexy, can't wait to see it go in.

                      Jean,

So if I try to pass an M62 through CA BAR as an M60 and they catch me, what exactly happens then?

I don't know, your record get recorded in their BAR system by the VIN? Call and ask them.

JEAN have you made your m60b44?

I have b40 heads , b40 and b44 block, I want to make m60b44 with m60ecu, but I am worried about engine, will it work correctly? becouse of bigger compresion and smaller combustion chamber.

I have talked about this to local mechanic/drifter, he has also m60b44, but with VEMS, sport camshaft, m5 intake, exhaust, and he says that there could something go wrong with oem ecu, he recommend to put VEMS, and to adjust it correctly.

It works, the adaptation in the DME can handle the difference.

However, you should get the DME mapped if you want to pull everything out of the engine.

ok but how is with m60 managment on b44 block? Doesn,t b44 need more fuel than b40?
m62b44 has only 20nm powerful than m60b40, is it sense to make hybrid?

With B44 block you get 10% more displacement and 10% more compression without basically any additional cost so why not? :)
