Will the F body shifter not bolt onto the GTO trans, putting it in the same position? Because it looks like it would.

Simple update. The Fbody shifter lines up the best. GTO will sit too far back

Put in a Z3 or E36 rack -- the hose connections are to the outboard side of the valve body on the rack, this will give you more clearance for headers. E30 rack hose connections are right under the headers, toward the inboard side of the valve body.

Any E36 style rack will work. The main part is the angle of the steering joint off of the rack. The E30 one points in a bit more than any of the E36 type ones. I'm 90% sure a Z3 rack will work.

Will a z3 steering rack clear 1 7/8 headers? Or do you have to go strictly e36 for ls swaps?

Those are MUCH bulkier than the BMW units being retrofitted. Those are GM style units that were originally used in diesel pickups and full size vans, with only a few car applications.

You stand a MUCH better chance of being able to fit the comparatively compact BMW units in the engine bay with a V8.

Also, what's fugly about current hydroboost options?

From what I've seen of the hydroboost being mocked on my car. It isn't that simple. There isn't enough space right out of the hole so you have to offset. Then there's the issue of angles and what not. It looks like a HUGE pita.

Cx racing might have a kit out in the new year also. Im going to slowly gather up my parts and see what comes out in the future for mounting.
