Noted thank you. I think I know what am doing tonight taking a break from the garage and it down with a good cup of coffee and re-read your entire build...

If they break off that easily, I'd be looking at anti-seize instead of loctite.

Doing oil pan gaskets... what a shitty job..lolll..

I rarely seen an engine so oil backed outside it was leaking from the valve cover ..at least its clean inside where it counts.

new starter the original one had a loose rotor and I didn't trust it..
        ..and more cleaning of course.

Cant wait to button up this engine still waiting for parts.. should have this engine installed with tranny in max 2 weeks with the help of my father in law robert.

more work done... almost install time..

Who needs a 200$ BMW pilot bearing puller when you have bread...LOL.. yeap bread!!

wiring is going to be fun... going to use what I need from the OEM harness/C101 then its Megasquirt or Microsquirt not sure yet!
starting to look like a motor...
started attacking the tranny... new parts installed
          E39 M5 clutch/pressure plate and stock 540 flywheel
          kamotors flares waiting patiently

          New tranny fluid
Pilot bearing out...also going to delete the OSV and go with a catch can....

Saturday or Sunday I should have this beast installed... but I still need to figure out the OIL filter housing and Power steering (wondering if I can go with JIC fittings instead of those damn always leaking banjo bolts for lines)

have you test fit the motor with that steering setup?
I did the same with the osv delete into a catch can works well as long as you remember to check and drain the catch can.

You mean with the E30 original steering knuckle? if so yes fits perfect, also the garagistic headers fit perfect... going to be a tight exhaust but there is room..

For the OSV delete you can drain it automaticaly by putting a "T" fitting on that oil line that goes from the oil filter to oil pan.

Nice progress! I am in the same boat here in Milwaukee. I have got more done this winter than originally planned so I am ahead of the game, but hate not making progress because of the cold.

Long time no update been too busy but made a little bit of headway today..

Got rid of 20 pounds of useless wiring...kept what I needed to get ready for Megasquirt II

Finished the Oil filter assembly.. changed all the expensive as hell O-rings

Got to fabricate a braquet to hold the filter housing in place...things are tight

shot from above going to use the E30 coolant bottle

So my next steps are order the MSII and do all the wiring to get this engine fired up.. then I will attack the rad,fan..shifter, driveshaft, diff and finish off with the fender flares and suspension.. yeah I know I got a lot of work..

yeah...I know what you mean by how rare it is to find info...also going with my own harness :)BUT it is all I am missing:( I got the whole schema built I have good experience in building these boxes already and tuning in general and my MS2 stuff is on its way. Meanwhile I also got another idea... 5 series bentley book?? PDF floating around on the web??.... because to diagnostic the various sensors the PINOUTS are identified and that is all I need but regardless I will make it happen even if I have to go to BMW garage and bribe some tech to look it up on the dealership PC's.
