I'm in no way shape or form a purist.. And it doesn't even bother me that it's not a BMW motor. I just have a grudge against LS swaps in cars that have so much soul and come from manufacturers that actually make good engines. Its just a soul-less engine, and doesn't do anything for me.

While I'll agree it's better (more interesting?) than an S5x, it's just these motors are crammed in every make and model from ford to bmw to mazdas and nissans.. its very underwhelming when you show up at car show and it's like LS fest. Yea they make good power but your car sounds like a truck and has the same engine as the high school senior ricer kid with the 240sx that lives two blocks from me.

I'm game for the m62 swap. And if i can figure out a way to talk this guy down on a 20B 3-rotor I'd like to start on that journey next.

Price stays between the seller and I.

      Suspension:
Ground control coils with Koni adjustables and GC camber plates. Strut towers also brought up 1/2" for additional negative camber.

Blake - You have the right to your opinion. IMO there is a difference between a sloppily LS swapped car you see driving to work everyday and a properly LS swapped M3. There is a reason so many people LS swap - big power in a little package. In the mean time I'll be over here enjoying a 400whp m3.

Was this custom or did they use a kit like sikky?

I'm going to strongly disagree. Sure, maybe in terms of tech but not in packaging and performance. LS is smaller, lighter and capable of much more.

No update, I've been working on this:

The LSM3 is a long term project. My goal right now is to get the M62 car sold so I can have more room and time to focus on the M3.

Do you know the price difference between getting a S62 to 5/6/700 HP compared to a LSX? I get the whole BMW motor in a BMW thing - I have a M62 E30.

If you like flushing money down the toilet I'm not going to stop you, but I surely won't be joining.
its your car so you should build it the way you want it. far be it for me or anyone else to tell you how to put together your build.

are you planning 6-700 hp? 4-500 is enough for me. probably enough for the car too.

My bottleneck right now is the rear tires. I bought the car like you see it. I don't know if I would have the heart to LS swap a perfectly good S14 car, but happy to take over this project.

That said I don't know if i have the heart to put a knife to the rear of the car. If I could fit a 275-295 in the rear it would be getting a turbo all day. For now I am going to see how sticky 235s, 450 whp, and the racelogic traction control treat me.

How much wider is an m than a regular e30? Are the fenders rolled? I should think a 255 would fit under there.... I've always wondered about notching the trailing arms for wider wheels.

255's will fit after fender work is done. There is a thread on S14.net where a member worked his fenders to clear them. The fronts you could add Evo fenders if you can find them.
