Definitely. I've looked at the cost long term though, and I'd rather just own my own tank. I can get a pretty decent size tank between $100-$300, so not a big deal. I'm just trying to push to the lower end of that spectrum.
I actually have a line on a free tank, I just need the opportunity to go check it out.

Today began with noble intentions. I bought a spot weld cutter, I had the drill bits out for pilot holes... was being very methodical, and then after about 6 spot weld cuts, frustration led to grabbing the problem solvers, the problem solvers made up my mind to go with a tube front end instead of making the old core support removable. Didn't exactly mean for it to end up this way, but I really didn't want to dedicate my entire day to screwing with this thing. Much easier to chop off and deal with the regretful expenses later. Really just want to be able to get back to work on the engine so I can have it ready to test fit and build my mounts.

Spring compressor build video today, chop chop video tomorrow.

Love the interruption in the middle "Hey camera! How you doin?!"

Must be a pain to have to run a generator to weld.

Haha, that's my Dad. I built my concrete pad/eventual shop on my parents property. He always likes to come out and see what I'm up to while heckling me

The generator is on wheels and pretty easy to roll out/get started thankfully. It's more of a pain than just plugging into a wall outlet, but I've got plans to run power out to that garage.
We've already got the box/conduit set up and everything, so it's just a matter of buying the wire and letting my electrician brother do the work.

You're always welcome to swing by, man. I work from home, so I'm typically here unless I get sent out to do a photoshoot of a property or something. I'd love to come see your swap and get some ideas on the tube front end.
Would love to talk more about what you paid to have that fab work done.

Nothing super exciting as far as the setup goes, but it's coming along. The harbor-freight carport tent has an entire corner of parts now that looks like some monster puked out an E30

Need to start posting stuff for sale. I also have a Harley Sportster 883 that I plan on selling to fund the trans adapter and whatnot. Sell old toys to build a new toy :)

I wish I had the patience to put the project on hold and save up for my metal building/two-post lift, but I can easily finish the car with what that would cost.

New video above. Lapped valves yesterday and did some work on the mating surface so I can reassemble and mount the head that I've cleaned. I'm going to put it back together tomorrow, mount it, and then finish the other side.
I want to get the motor all buttoned up so I can fab these mounts. Thinking I should buy a bandsaw to make my life much easier,

Had to build another spring compressor because I ignored someone's great and crucial advice -- make it taller and angle it because the PAC 1218 springs will be taller, and the springs sit at an angle.

The first one was totally useless. Too short and was pushing the springs laterally instead of vertically. Oh well, got to play with my welder again and the new one works perfectly.

Hahaha. Once I can finally start the thing up and hear the engine run, I'll feel better. It's seriously unsettling to go at my car with a sawzall and grinder like that even though I have a plan to fix it.
