I could use some help with my in tank pump.

I need to replace my in tank pump. The car has been off the road for 2 years. I recall there were a couple of different options. How do I identify which I have? I recall that you had to know which one to order. Can anybody refresh my memory on this? Also, where would you source it? Rockauto or ..... Thanks.

I looked back at an old post and it appears to be an E8141H Airtex that would work. But, I am getting the impression that they are no longer made, as nobody seems to have one. Thoughts?

What year and model is your car?

It is an 87 325is. I looked back at some old posts and this is what was recommended:
        BMW part number 16141179415

The post that has the plastic wire connector rotted off. My pump was working, but all I had to do was look at the connector and it fell off the ring.

I found a Carter brand pump on Amazon that cross references to this. I cannot find any other brand. Airtex seems to have been recommended, but I cannot find a single one. This is it.

If your original internal pump is working, I’d consider keeping it.

The fuel pump connector you may have to get off a used car.
The pins are the same for the heated mirrors I believe.

Airtex pumps are ok, but the problem is the rubber couple on the assembly splits causing fuel delivery issues.

New Fuel pump relay would be recommended, they seem to fail more than pumps. O2 and main relays while you’re there.

My pump works. But, where the plaster connector mounts is broken. I don't think it is the connector. The actual metal snapped off the ring. It corroded and broke off. I'll take a peek again, and get a pic. Thanks.

So you can either repair your existing pump connector somehow or get the Carter pump assembly and call it a day.

I think this is shot. The connector WAS located between the two pipes.

OMG, where do you live where it would see that much rust? yeah you need a new assembly/pump. Hopefully the level sensor is still good.

Not much new options out there. I think I seen a URO brand. I may go that route. I think it looked better than airtex brand.

Pretty rough, I'm sure there are worse ones out there working somehow.

How's the rust on the rest of the car?

I live in NY and this baby has 330k around town miles. I have a beautiful 2002 f350 4x4 that never sees the salt. This on the other hand...... We just welded in a floor on the passenger side. BTW, this pump worked when I took it out. How? I do not know. I bought the Carter pump and this is what it looks like.

Looks like it should work. The only troubles I've had is the adapter rubber coupler disintegrating after half year on the airtex, looks similar, but now with squeeze clamps.

Hmmm, I wonder why the hell it would disintegrate. I'd hope they use fuel injection hose or such.
