    E30 fuel pump priming

OK so we know e30 was designed to prime only when the engine is cranking/running.
Is it only for safety (stopped engine/ignition is still ON)? Any other reasons? Any reason to keep that setup if the safety aspect is addressed?
My ECU can be set to work as OEM design or prime on every IGN ON. It also has a safety featured to cut the fuel off if the engine stops regardless of the key position.

forum is glitchy again and won't let me edit...

was going to add:Right now it's set to prime and I hear a lot of gurgling going on in the tank from the return pipe for a sec or two as system keeps the pressure when the car is off by the design.

I'm on jakeb Classic Daily's PNP. My fuel pump primes when I turn the key in the 2nd position before cranking.
