Seriously, if you're gonna ask for help, don't be an assclown when you do.

Dyno days aren't bad if you get a group going, I believe a local group was getting together and it was going to be $50-75 or something. It'll be a bit more depending on how much tuning you need, but as we've stated, when you mess with your fuel/air mix and delivery, it's common sense that the car has to be tuned to run with these changes.

The adjustable FPR is used to set the fuel pressure at different pressures (duh), which means you can adjust it higher or lower to reach the optimum fuel delivery to match your new increased airflow. The stock one can't do that. While there may be some truth that the stock ecu can help compensate for the increased demand for fuel brought on by the larger injectors and AFM, it can't be relied on to make the perfect mixture. If the maximum pressure of the stock FPR is lower than your needs, than the ecu can't make it work any harder - you need to upgrade.

      Sorry.

So then basically to _complete_ the swap you also need a AFPR, a new ECU, a dyno/tune?

So if you just let you're ECU 'learn' then you won't get optimal HP? How much HP difference are we looking at through ECU and dyno/tune?

Edit: And can someone be so kind to link to Dave Adam's site so we can see what you're talking about?

        No problem, man.

No, you don't need a new ECU. The AFPR will be used to "tune" your fuel pressure to match the increase in airflow - the ECU will continue doing what it's doing according to the changes made. The AFPR keeps the ECU from trying to increase the stock FPR's pressure past its limits, or, to its maximum, which a) isn't good for a 14-20 year old FPR, and b) may still not be enough to make up for the injectors and AFM.

Tuning isn't just about horsepower - think of tuning a little like a car stereo system. You use components (among other reasons) to seperate the jobs of highs and lows between two dedicated speakers - instead of using one single coaxial to do both. Using an AFPR means that the stock FPR isn't getting overworked, and the ECU isn't struggling to keep up with the extra work of the injectors, AFM and FPR.

If you tune it right, you'll get the most power you can out of it, but you'll also be decreasing the stress on each part of the system, therefore increasing the longevity of those parts you added, as well as others involved.

One other thing - you can't just toss a turbo on, correct? You have to upgrade injectors, and put on all kinds of other parts to compensate for the increase. A turbo forces more air into your engine - and you need more fuel to keep up with it. A good turbo setup needs tuning, I doubt anyone will argue with that. The injectors and AFM are increasing both fuel AND air, so wouldn't it make sense that you should tune after these changes as well?

Wow, thank you very much, useful information.

I found Dave Adam's site: http://www.davelength.net/car/bigsix.html . Useful info there with his charts

 Read my post again. It has nothing to do with getting any more hp. It's making the engine run like its supposed to instead of driving it to it's demise.

That being said, I plan to do these things sometime soon, but I will tune it properly.
Come on TJ, sacrifice your motor? You're joking, right? We're talking big time bolt on's, a AFM that allows a bit more air and some injectors that are hardly bigger than stock. This is nothign to shit your pants over and it's nothing that demands a dyno. If anybody should be using a dyno it would be me, when the car is back together, not somebody swapping in Mustang injectors.

so ~35,000 miles and my engine is supposed to be dead by now?

that's okay, everyone was saying the same thing when I was going to put them in. "don't do it, your motor will blow up!! AAAAAAAHHHHH!" ;)

yeah the cam is pretty nice that might be it, it doesnt bother me that much, its been smoothing out some, its just the cold idle that bothers me, or the lack of it

Still waiting for someone to prove me wrong. The only guy who had these types of mods thrown on and actually dynoed the damn thing is Robert, and his graph showed his car (with a rebuild) made less power than my car did bone stock with 299k on it. I know he claimed things were wrong, but I want to see a new dyno graph to prove it.

Dynojet dyno, ~80 degrees outside, Humidity: 79%

Look at the A/F, rich as fuck. (AFM wheel off.)
I put the wheel at stock and the trap speed at the 1320 increased significantly.

As soon as the airbox from TJ comes, I'll take my time on this M30 AFM conversion with m20 box....and .... something else. Then wait until a group dyno day with another $60 dyno and tune it with the wheel.

With all the adjustments needed and shit, this mod is NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. think about it, you pay 60 for a dyno, say your battery dies or you disconnect it for something else, THERE GOES ALL YOUR TUNING YOUR ECU IS RESET
