      NA M20 ITB isn't rice.
But all your fuckers' mentality is.

Driving on 5 cylinders with a broken rocker arm is a hobby now?

ohhh i get it, beacuse the pictures you showed are of riced out cars....THAT must mean that one can only have fun modding a car if they rice it out.

I'm a ricer, cause my car is an auto but I've probably spent enough money this year for a swap on other things. :)

you're too dim to realize the argument.

if you aren't modding for a purpose, that's what modding for fun is. Being entertained by mods you don't have a reason to do. Rice mods have no real purpose either.

wasting $ for no reason, and changing for car for the thrill or to solely make mod list longer = stupid

That's why people call it a hobby. Do you think that someone spending money painting or doing woodworking for no profit is stupid? This guy is trying a mod that I've never seen on an M20 just to see if it could be done. That's ok, IMO.

Like I've said, I like the ITB N/A M20, but don't like people who think like e30godz.

The people with vinyl graphics and aluminum wing and coffee can call it a "hobby" too.

So then what the fuck do you mod your car for? Autocross? What purpose does that serve, besides fun, that driving schools can't accomplish?

If he wants to mod his m20, more power to him for actually doing it, rather than just saying so.

So Robert, by your rationale, these mods are rice, since they are for entertainment, fun, and serve no real purpose:

Shift knobs, shift and ebrake boots
Pedals (meaning covers, like ACS or other brands)
Attractive wheels (i.e. those that are not lightweight or for performance)
Steering wheels (such as M-Tech I or II, Alpina, Momo, etc)
Body kits (OEM or aftermarket, tasteful or wild)
Painting of parts (Intake manifolds, valve covers, brake calipers, grills, etc)
Accent kits (interior or exterior, like CF, wood or aluminum)

I'm sorry, but your reasoning is completely idiotic. Show me where it's written or unwritten that modding is required to serve a functional purpose or performance gain. The only problem is, you can't. I'd like to see you walk into a car show, any kind, be it import, hot rod, classic, etc, and try to tell any of the guys there that their cars are rice because all of their mods that aren't purely for function make their cars rice. You'd probably get your ass kicked, because it's complete bullshit. You yourself told me over an AIM conversation that we had about the splitter I wanted to make for my car, that if I would just admit that I were making one just for the looks and not for performance, that it would be ok. If you don't believe me, I'll post the log. You're full of shit, Robert. Plain and simple.

those things are rice. paint in general actually....

only exceptions smaller steering wheel and grippier pedals.

I don't go to car shows.

So, your head unit, wheels, and valve cover paint, all make your car rice, by your definition, correct?

yep. only it doesn't make the car on whole rice.

and the head unit does improve the sound and ability to play CDs....which in fact then serves a purpose

and even the borbets are wider than baskets, so they do something as well.

paint on valve cover however serves no real purpose. but to look good. i don't know what i was thinking.

Whats wrong with being rice? Some of those guy get their cars to do 10's in the 1/4. You guys may not like their choice in mods for aesthetics, but I would hope that they dont care whether you do or not. Most of the mods that people perform have their own purpose to the person doing the mod. Whether its for looks or just to occupy a persons time. Non the less, you guys shouldnt say modding for fun is fucking stupid, cause half the fun is getting the mod to work. And if I had a 10 second honda and was considered rice, I'd be damn proud. Props to the ricers and the modders out there that take an idea and go with it.

e30 m20 turbos are common place on these forums. Closely followed by e30m50 and e30s50 and then you have the e30m30 then two or three e30m60 cars and I have only seen one s38 (or maybe it was m88) powered e30s and it had a huge fucking turbo.

If you want to be unquie at all you have to either put a damn american lump or jap crap in, unless you use some of your God given skill.

This guy is using skill, or at least it looks like it.

I think having 6 tbs on a NA engine is just as effective as having 6 on a turbo car. they both work exactly the same. in relative terms that is.

you can pick up efficiency with many of teh same mods on both types. the only thing i can think of that helps a NA engine that would kill a turbo engine is excess intake/exhaust overlap, found in "hot" NA engines.
