Toggle switch under dash to fuel pump wire. Simple and cheap. Worked for years on my pick up--

Completely agree with every point you made... If they have a tow truck, they're snagging different cars, not e30's. However, Ive seen a few e30's I could see being stolen this way. Some of the rides on here alone are nice enough.

Op, you can buy those same wheel boots that the city uses for parking enforcement, not sure if its legal to use where you're at though.

        Edit:
Forgot to add, If I'm feeling anxious about an area, ill sometimes pull the ignition coil plug off.

If the guy has a tow truck, chances are he wants your exact car and you are screwed. Unless you chain it to the ground, even then, any chain can be cut. The goal is to protect against neighbourhood idiots stealing it and taking it for a joyride. I wish I still had pics of the last car they stole. Absolutely wrecked it.

Like people have said, if they want its gone. I share your concern, the best thing I can think of(in combination with a kill switch) is get a cheap GPS tracker off ebay for $40, put in a pay as you go SIM, and turn it on when you park in a sketchy place. It doesn't stop the theft, but if by chance your car is gone you can find out exactly where it is and either call the police or show up with a carload of friends.

Yank the DME. Fucker isn't going anywhere. Removing the wheel is also a good idea. As said, it won't stop a pro, but will deter most.

                    Please, remember the second step.
First step... instal a decent car seat covers. Second step... throw in some upward fishing hooks under the covers :)

We had a rash of thefts in my area a year or two back where theives were stealing tow trucks and using them to pickup 10+ cars a night. Nobody questions it when they see a legitimate looking towtruck driver slimjim a window or hook it up to drive away.

So then an ideal alarm would be something with an accelerometer that goes off if the car is moved coupled with a 150Db siren to wake the whole neighborhood once either the door is opened or the car is moved without turning off the alarm.

A good car alarm should do the trick, this one seems pretty legit

install an alarm system and put the siren inside the cabin. no one will drive it away guarantied!
