Help With Aux Fan (Been Searching All Day)

I bought a new resistor, but the fan wouldn't jump when I connected the low speed (at the temp sender unit) so I took the resistor out and bridged the wires. It worked before with the resistor when I had the ac on but nothing now (new spal fan) any insight?

So I noticed fuse 3 was blown. I replaced it and the new fuse blew immediately after the fan spun. Is that because I didn't have the resistor in?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

The fan is going to draw the same amount of current with or without the resistor.

Did the fuse blow immediately as you were putting it in, or when you turned the fan on for the first time?

The Spal fan might draw more than the stock fan, which would cause it to blow fuses.

It's a hi flow spal unit. What I'd like to know is why the low speed is not working

There are separate fuses for high & low speed, I believe, and you will need to put in higher amp fuses on both

DO NOT just put high amperage fuses in. The fuse are there to protect the WIRING from overloading, so if you put a higher amperage fuse, the wiring will then burn/melt instead of the fuse.

It sounds to me like there is a short somewhere. Could be a bad relay perhaps.

Pretty sure I've replaced the relays. Any easy way to check?

If you jumped the resistor you will need to put the same amp fuse thats on the high side into the low side as well. I run my fan like this and have never had issues even on super hot track days.

Kingston is correct on this. Both the high and low circuits use a .75wire so each is capable of carrying the full demand of the fan. You just need to up the low speed fuse to handle.
