    32mm wrench for fan clutch

im tryin to take this off right now and dont have that wrench, i heard some people found one at dicks sporting goods but i dont have one of those around and checked sports authority and sears and they dont have any that will work. is it possible to just undo those four bolts and take the whole pulley off of the w pump without taking the fan off first? if not, any other ideas on where to get one of these wrenches asap? tia -dan

I used a standard biggie craftsman 32mm wrench.

I don't understand the need for a bike wrench.

Charlie, we got a headset wrench from the bike shop cus it cost like...$10-$15 and I didnt have a wrench at home to use. Also, the 32mm Craftsman wrench cost a LOT more.

QFMFT.. IIRC the Craftsman 36mm open ended wrench was $40 and wider than the 32mm bicycle repair wrench I got at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Don't call them and ask they have it in stock though because their staff usually consists of lazy college kids who will tell you that they don't carry any wrenches in the bike dept. The brand name of the company that makes the server wrenches that Dick's sells is called "Pedro's Racing Service" that cost about $10-$12 and is much thinner than an adjustable or standard 36mm open ended wrench. Makes for easier use IMHO.

Wait, they hire R3V members???? :P

I got a cheap-o 32mm combination wrench from Northern tool, it was like $7-8. I had to take a grinder to the open end side because it was too thick to fit in there on the fan clutch nut. Now that it's been customized, it works like a charm. I like the Pedro's bike wrench too though- but it looks a bit short- I've had to whack my custom wrench with a 3 lb hammer before to get some of these fan clutch nuts loose.

Don't let the picture fool you the wrench is pretty big.

                          Wait a second.

I tried to take my clutch fan off, and the clutch part of the fan spun with the wrench.... Is there any special way to take this off??? I'm getting really frustrated...

32mm wrench and hammer. Strike down and across, and remember that its reverse threaded.

A big pair of these work well too:

I've also heard that some wrenches used to remove table saw blades are the correct size. Check first though as I know of some that aren't.
