I'll +1 for The Right Stuff. That stuff is absolutely amazing. I never use oil pan gaskets anymore. The small can is like $16 from AutoZone and lasts for at least 4 oil pan gaskets.

      Yep. It's original.

I don't believe you. Not unless you car only has 1000 miles.

I prefer Permatex #2 for sealant. Very thin coat on both surfaces and the gasket and it will never leak. I've pulled things apart using this stuff and had the gasket delaminate, but the sealant was still stuck on. Scrapes off easy though.

yeah, I don't believe that either. if it is original, it probably leaks. cork gaskets are junk.

my E90 has 100k and doesn't leak a drop, it's refreshing coming from the "Exxon-Valdez" M20. My wife's E91 has oil everywhere, I think the RMS has failed. Not going to touch it until the clutch needs done though, or if the oil leak gets considerably worse. I gave up on stopping the M20 from leaking a long time ago..

You guys are welcome to come out and look at my car. Everything in the engine except the timing belt, drive belts, and water pump is still original. The engine has only 114k.

dude no. cork gaskets suck. over time they become brittle after several heat cycles and they are more prone to leaking. The best way to seal an engine is with permatex type products. you are esentially gluing the parts together. its better.

I know you had a lot of oil leak problems, but I have had good luck resealing m20's without issue. Again, these are cars that get the crap beat out of them too. We just tighten the seal springs a little if the rotating part is grooved at all.

I Only use grey "the right stuff" on my oil pan gaskets. My lower pan gasket is all TRS and it hasn't leaked in over a year. The upper pan is a new oem paper gasket replaced around the same time and it is already leaking.
