    is there any other way to get a skid plate without paying 300 to the dealer?

        common sense fills in pot holes in curves and hill tops, where you cannot see them? common sense says that i will hit one if I do not see it, that is when the plate would work better.

              If you know someone whose crafty with metal and a welder have them fab you up something good enough to impress the WRC boys ;)

                        its quite beefy in real life.... unless you decide to go rock crawling with you e30 i doubt anything is going to get through it... plus nothing beats OEM fitment
