Apparently this stuff is used to fix cracked engine blocks, among other things.

I'll check it regularly, I can always throw on the trailing arms I bought if need be.
      Is this real life?

Lol dude people have used JB weld and other similar epoxies to temporarily fix cracked engine blocks, but that stuff doesn't last forever.

Keep in mind that suspension components are subject to very abrupt, very strong forces, repeatedly throughout any drive... well, unless you live in an area with kickass roads, then it's much better. Besides, in terms of importance & safety I'd say suspension components rank much higher on the priority list than engines.

Regardless, if that epoxy fails and the spring perch decides to just "slip away" and your spring decides to take a nice little vacation...

If your spring perch falls off, worst case it bottoms out on the shock and causes damage to the shock + RSM + shock tower and the spring maybe takes something out as it departs the car.

Not that it isn't going to be much easier to source a new trailing arm now, just that his car won't spontaneously combust.

That random epoxy isn't going to last long. As soon as that rust sits for another few weeks, the bond will break.

            My thoughts exactly.

The previous owner was driving the car for years with no spring perch center pieces. What I have now is much better then it was. Unless you completely unload the rear springs, they aren't going to move around on the perch. These springs are still long enough that even at FULL droop with the car jacked up and the wheel off, the spring is still seated top and bottom.

To get these springs on the car, I had to disco the rear shocks, swaybar, and STILL use spring compressors.

I've had the rear apart twice since the epoxy job and no problems so far. I also have been checking them with the car on the ground after any length of drive.

I have already bought two used, good condition trailing arms.
The plan is to clean them up nicely, replace the bushings, and put them in the car come springtime (the car won't be driven over the winter) when I drop the subframe to refresh everything.

If/when the epoxy job comes apart in the two months until winter, the car will just be put away early.

I have never had to use spring compressors for the rear? Not even when sticking some e36 springs in there in a pinch to get a car to move (taller than e30 springs).

Not sure what to tell you.
I put in H&R sport springs.

Maybe if I had someone helping to push down/stand on the rear trailing arms it would have been doable without compressors?

Lol wut? Rear springs are the easiest things to remove, evar. No compressors required from my experience either.

Please don't drive the car with the epoxy guy, it won't end well

when I removed the original springs on my iS and my iX, I had to use spring compressors for both. Obviously I detached the shock, swaybar, and released the ebrake beforehand.
