I can have my dad do the welding, as long as it's steel...which it is right? And I think I'm going to get that $399 kit. What shocks are you running abby?

      Currently? No.

But both my bronze S52 car and my silver 318is were both running the GC kits with specially valved Konis, shortened housings and camber plates.

I plan on running the GC kit on my next E30 as well.

I ran 550/750 rates with no rear sway on my bronze car.
I believe 350/475 on the M42 with stock sways (not sure as they were on the car when I purchased it).

I'm running Bilstein Sports all around with a cut internal bump stop for that extra travel and Ireland Race plates to be lower and retain the same shock travel.

What are you trying to do though? Function? Form?

More form then function. Not going to track the car or anything.

If you're not going to track the car, I think spending a bunch of $ on a full coilover kit is a waste. Unless you are going for the adjustability and spring rate exchange, I see no need to get coilovers. Are you looking to slam the car?

I think you'd be perfectly happy with something like a Bilstein sport/H&R Race setup.

If you want slammed you also need the higher spring rates that you can get with coilovers.

zimmie was having to run something like 700-800lb springs in the rear to keep his wheels from destroying his fenders.

It's my daily so being on the ground isn't my goal. I also don't want it lowered only an inch...adjustability would be nice so that's why I'm looking at the coilover conversion kit.

I want it to be low enough to look cool and handle better but not so low that it's not drivable as a daily...

/\ This guy is making sense.

OP, What would you use the adjustability of the coilovers for? Going to get out and turn the adjusters when you see a high-spot approaching? H&R race is about perfect for what you describe. Low enough to look good, stiff for the fun corners, DD'-able, can still make it over speed bumps, cost efficient.

You got me on that one....hahhaha

I don't know. I just like the idea of being adjustable, but it's not like I need it. Who here has a picture of an e30 with billy sports and H&R springs and maybe drop hats?

Where should I buy this setup?

I already have bilsteins in the back, the PO put them on. It's all stock other then that.

Are you running just bilsteins and racing springs? Or did you take out your spring pads as well?

Okay then screw everything and just do the kit. You will go pretty low.
Invest in some camber plates, and you will go low with more travel.
Invest in short body Koni's and some more strut modification and your pan will be sitting on the ground. Literally.
