    Blown Strut After Track Day?

On my way home from NJMP last night I was getting some wierd vibrations. I narrowed it down to the right front wheels as it got worse when i turned left and better when i turned right. It felt like my tire pressure was way low. It looked a lil low so i added some air and i had the same issue. I rocked the wheel back and forth and everything was solid, so i dont think its the bearing.

Then today I jacked the car up, pulled the wheel and found oily greese all over the strut housing and inside of the wheel. Then I looked up at the strut and saw this.

    For good measure:

I passed 2 CTS-V's, some STI's, a 911, and a spec e30 along with some others. Pretty happy with my driving for the first time and how well the suspension/tires/brakes and everything else worked out.

While I'd be upset if this happened to a new or low mileage strut, it wouldn't be unusual to see it happen on a strut near to or past it's useful life. What was the mileage on that strut?
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        Yeah that'll happen.

Also HPDEs shouldn't be about who you pass.

Im not sure. Regardless i bought a set of good condition billy sports a month ago and only got around to replaced the rears so i have the fronts ready to be installed either today or tomorrow.

Hey guys im having some issues taking out the blown strut. I dont have the tool to take the collar off i was told i could use a pipes wrench and some heat becuase im not re using it. But even with an 18" pipe wrench and heat from a propane torch i cant get it to budge.

              Ideas?

strap wrench to keep the strut from rotating and a socket wrench on the nut.

Its not the nut on the top.

And is it safe to use more leverage? The only thing really holding it in place is the sterring linkages, im not gonna eff all that stuff up am i?

worst thing you'll do while loosening would be stripping the nut.

Its not the nut, its the threaded collar that holds the strut down.
