Were you removing stock springs? Because I'm pretty positive this won't work on stock 325i springs. It'll work on the H&R race springs I have in my car now, but they are a lot shorter, and don't expand as far. Stock springs will expand the entire length of the control arm travel.

            No! No! No!

            Please ban this kid!

This is just pure laziness.... Seriously man, take the day to take everything apart properly, and take a look at all of the suspension components to make sure they are functioning, SAFE condition. This thread should be locked ASAP, or better yet just deleted. Please refrain from posting shit like this, that's why the Bentley manual was created....

This could work. Ill stick with my spring compressors though because I feel comfortable with them. But this would be a good DIY to keep in mind if your stuck some where and have to take the strut assembly apart for some odd resin with out the proper tools.
As fare as the jack stands go. They are not only for your safety but for the cars. If the car falls off the jack and has no jack stand you could potentially damage things like the oil pan or brake disks/hub assembly when the car lands on them. Just food for thought.

Soooo wait. You didn't use the proper tools and steps to work on your e30, and now you are advising people on how to do so.
                  Cool idea.
Go buy the right tools or let a professional handle it.
Also, if you are stuck somewhere, call a wrecker or invest in AAA prior to incident. There is no reason to work on your car stranded like this when a hundred bucks a year spent on roadside assistance will get you to a proper environment. I know you are trying to help those who don't have the proper tools, but when doing jobs like this, shortcuts, or cut corners are in no way a proper means to an end.
                  Just my opinion.
                  Yours truly,

Note: He did not work on it stranded, it was at his home. Where he "customizes" all the used cars he uses r3v and other forums as a method to "flip" said cars. This guy is the epitome of shady ass NY slimeball car salesmen. With the results of this thread, he can add the "custom suspension" line on the Craigslist FS "by Owner".

I was thinking more like something Bill Caswell would have to do during the Baja 1000 in the middle of nowhere. Certainly nothing I want to try. I dont want a spring shooting into my face.

I never had issues with the harbor freight ones. Did 3 or 4 spring installs with it on diff cars already. Get 20% coupon. Cheap enough.
