Buying such an old raw light car it only makes sense to go all out with it. Only con I've experienced is that it's harder to save the hairier slides in his, and maybe that's me needing to do so more forearm workouts because some say it's easier.

Whitebulat 22 you might want to edit your post because I am especially confused by your last sentence.

The only reason I still have my p/s is because of all the shitty parallel parking I have to do at my apartment. I plan to get a quicker rack and deposed it via the flying miata method...see how that goes.

I just have a burnt out pump, been rocking it that way for over a year. Easy enough, I have no issues parellel parking or anything. Maybe it those cans of spinach I toss back before I rip my shirt off, and rev my car real loud to gain all the ladiez attenshins before I dizplay my stringths w/ no ps?

I honestly don't know what the fuss is about.

        I'm on 195's. Stock, baby!

Might as well delete that excess weight then, it will be a million times easier to turn once you're not forcing fluid through a dead pump.

You guys do realize that there was a time when power steering was an option and was on cars far larger and heavier then an e30.

^My dad's 67 GMC has manual steering. I don't think it was ordered with even one option (was a farm truck), and it drives like, well... a truck. And between that, the stiff ass clutch pedal, and the additional ~2000lbs over the front end (it has a Detroit Diesel 6V53), and worn out synchros, driving it is like wrestling a family of grizzly bears.

I've actually been considering deleting mine when i change racks. My PS system is leaking from everywhere. Is properly deleted PS is really that good?

I haven't had it in most the time I've had my car... Don't notice it.

I got a E36 rack with PS delete and backing plate and it drives great. The steering guibo was changed to stiffer plastic disc as well. You have to be prepared to corner hard, but you get used to it. I don't miss power steering, I have grown used to being able to feel the road. That said, when my PS went out on my truck, fighting the pump and leaking hoses was a huge pain in the ass.

Some euro E30s came with non powered racks. Not %100 sure if it was only 316s or what. You also have to keep in mind that a rack that is designed to be powered from the factory that is then unpowered isn't going to perform like an steering rack designed to be unpowered from the factory

Unpowered E30 rack. Not sure out the ratio either

having no power steering is an absolute bitch when you're trying to k turn and theres someone waiting for you. but while actually driving it feels a whole lot better. mine leaked like a bitch so every no and then id put some in and have ps for a few days and holy fuck it was like butter.

my system was full of stop leak (and still leaking everywhere) when i bought the car, my car is pretty stripped so i deleted PS as well as AC. it is MUCH easier to turn with no PS and sticky 225s than it was with stock 195s and a system all gummed up with stop leak. no power steering is much better than broken power steering, and in my opinion, better than regular power steering as well. i am a skinny dude and i have no issues wrangling my car around without it. i have a light car but big sticky tires so it's probably in the middle as far as difficulty goes

oh and it's been shown to give back about 6hp that the pump saps if you rip it off
