    Tire Choices for basket weaves in 14" ?

    I just bought a set of used 14" Style 5 BBS and I cannot find a decent tire for them.
    I have a set of Hankook Kinergy on the car now and I was loosing traction in the rain so I put sand bags in the trunk.
    I would be interested to hear what works especially the sizes other than stock and the brands people prefer.

    I have done the Petlas Imperiums and the Otani KC2000s in 205/60r14. It's the ideal size for 14" weaves IMO.

    The Petlas were loud and balanced out very poorly, and really just didn't feel good. Car always felt weird with them on, but it went away when i swapped wheels/tires to a different set.

    The Otanis felt great, but I can't speak on wet traction as I don't really push the car in the wet. The Otanis were some of my favorite tires to date.

    Unfortunately, I just looked them up and they stopped making them in 14" and 15" sizes, sad day.

    I know a couple guys that run the Maxxis MA-202s in 195/65r14 and seem to like them, but I have not personally ran them.

      I found a Haida HD921 that looks good with lots of praise and a 400AA rating.
      Priority only has it in 185x55x14 so I wonder if the sidewall is too short
      I have lowering springs too so I think the ride could be harsh
      Anyone have these?

        Its grim! I have run 185/70R14, 215/60R14 and 205/60R14 as well as stock 195/6514. My favorite was 205/60R14, but good luck finding them. Honestly, 215/60R14 worked great on all of the rough dirt roads I drove on at the time, but they look a bit goofy (a bit too wide for the rims, but no problem). 185/70R14 work great and look the closest to stock - they are just limited in terms of performance due to the tall sidewalls.             Did you notice any change from the 70 sidewall to the 60 sidewall ?
            What springs and shocks do you run ?

              The only tire that cornered anywhere near a low profile tire was the 205/60R14. When I ran 14" rims, I was also doing a lot of dirt road driving in an M10 318i. The high profile tires were great for absorbing rough roads. The springs were generally stock as I was looking for clearance on gravel.

                I have 185/70 Falken Pro Touring on my 14” wheel. They’re not terrible in dry. These Michelins will be the replacements when it’s time.
