FWIW my good friend has the Team Dynamic Pro Race 1 15x7 wheels on his '91 318is as track tires. He shod these wheels, after having them powder coated black for $60 a pop, with Toyo RA-1 (IIRC, R-compound tires). Said they really hold the car amazingly well when he took it to Sears Point (errr... Infineon) and Thunder Hill a couple weeks ago. I've given a lot of thought to these wheels, but after shipping and powder coating (their stock black looks dull and white = ick IMHO) the difference is about $450 vs. the BBS RG-F's... and the BBS's are quite a bit lighter. Now if I could get the TD PR1 wheels in antrachite straight from the factory it would be a no brainer.

Anyhoo! Just thought I'd mention that. :)

I think you are missing the point that there is no added stress from spacers. An ET40 rim with a 20mm spacer is exactly the same as an ET20 rim...
