Why are basketweaves considered "hot" E30 wheels?

I enjoy a nice set of 15" weaves, but anything smaller needs to go (yes my car has 14" weaves, and I don't care to spend the money to change them).

I'm with TJ. The hottness old school is a set of BBS RS's. For the track you cant beat the weight and price of Kosei K1's.

I'm not a big fan of all the basket weave style rims (of all sizes).

The basketweaves are ok, just because bottlecaps are so bad, so they win by default. I don't like all of the aftermarket baskets though (BBS, Ronal...)

The basket weave syle just doesn't appeal to me.

I always liked the wheels on some of the 6 cyl e39 models which look similar, something like this..

they dont look that great on the e39, but imagine with low profile tires on an e30, thatd be hot

Didn't anyone read Dr Seuss' "Star Bellied Sneetches"????

Why is it so cool for Germans to put US bumpers on their cars?? I think I heard that some of them even change their smiley's to DOT sealed beams!!

Basketweaves are very high quality wheels that look good (usually). They're light and (now) cheap.

Basketweaves are ugly. For stock wheels they win the toss up over b-caps. But I'd rather have hubcaps and steelies in all honesty. RS's and such aren't weaves in my opinion..... THOSE are hot. Same style but different flair. We are talking just the basketweaves here. Yeah they are BBS, yeah they are ok looking, but man I hate em. You guys want em.... I'll sell em to ya all day long. But man they are fugly.

i totally agree max. I run 15" baskets for winter wheels. but the bbs rs baskets are a different story. but origional baskets always tuned me off. after the winter each year, and i put bigger wheels on the car, i always think, damn my car looks so much meaner now, and a whole lot less boring.

325iX's had 15's but they had a high offset, ET41 I believe. Euro-spec cars (not sure if it was all or just some) had 15's that were ET24, they are the desirable ones. M3's also had 15" baskets but obviously they are 5 lug.

What's the attraction? If the answer is "cause they're fuh raze urban lightweight, yo!" then why don't you look around other aftermarket wheels like Rays CE28Ns or Racing Hart CPs?

You're suppose to get wheels that satisfy someone else's taste. Duh...
