tire life: installed at 110,000miles - being replaced at 167,000miles

tire grip: amazing in the dry even now when its down to almost no tread.
rain traction has gone to almost none, however, but was good.

feedback: i would definately buy them again, but i really cant afford that right now. i highly recommend them if you have the $$
Okay guys, here is exactly what I'm talking about. Go out and read some reviews on the RE92. It is an extremely unaggressive highway tire, and every car owner whose ride came with them from the factory is SHOCKED when they replace them for better rubber. However, to this driver, they were compltely within and even surpassed his expectations. If he dared put on something like P-Zero Nero M&S's (just to name another all-season, keep it fair), his perception of the RE92's would drop to dismal.

And anything that lasts 57,000miles is wayyyyyyyy to hard of a compound to have good traction (relative to high performance tires). Sure, good compared to $40 Coopers and Sears specials, but downright scary driven back to back with real rubber.

no doubt, even going off the extremely unscientific tirerack reviews you can see that they are a very poor tire.

People also need to realize whether the tire being reviewed is an OE tire or not. The factory Potenza RE92 equiped on most low end Nissans etc is a completely different beast than the RE92 that you buy retail. It's not even the same tire really. It's manufactured to the specs of the car maker not Bridgestone.

Not as good as a good tire but an ok tire compared to some of the crap out there.

Anyone tried Dunlop Direzza's? I think they're D101's or DZ101's, something like that... ? New "Dorifto" tire...

My Type E's came with FM 901's. Plan on giving them a thorough thrashing, will give my opinions after a few track days and daily driving.

I suspect the track will be where these tires will show their limitations. But as I said I've not had any complaints on the street.

Not sure if I'd buy them again. They are a decent price but there are other tires that are better in the similar price range.

I'd recommend Falken ZIEX ZE502s if you're looking for an all season tire. They're fairly cheap, but still extremely good (for an all season) in the dry, and also very good when wet. The only drawback is that they're a directional tread, so you probably won't be able to run them as long due to inability to rotate to the other side of the car. I'd guesstimate their life at around 30k-35k miles. Most of the 40-55 series ones of that type are V speed rated as well.

you must have something mixed up, because the bridgetone RE92s i had are summer tires bought from tirerack. maybe theyve switched things up since 99, because the treads are not even close to the 92s that are on tirerack right now. they are not all season, and they do grip like hell. i suspect that they only lasted that long because the PO was an older guy with a feather foot.

o yeah, and i have new toyo t1-r tires now, so ill post up a comparison after i get some time behind them.

Oh man, those RE92's have been out of production since almost before you got them in '99! Old school tire for real.

Just about any modern tire in the same class will blow them out of the water, BTW. You're probably loving the T1-R's, the only thing I'd see the RE92's having an edge on is sidewall stiffness.

For drifting everyone in my region swears by the Falken ST115. I havn't had a chance to try them since I run 14" for drifting and the ST115 I think start at 17". I run 195/60/14 Ziex for drifting, they are a descent cheap tire.

For daily driving I run 225/50/15 Falken Ziex. I like them a lot, they seem to grip very well, and the wet traction/hydroplane resistance is unmatched for a tire in this price range.

For AutoX I run 225/45/15 Hoosier R-compounds. They are amazing! Now my car will get up on three wheels coming out of a turn! To me, it seems like they are worth the money.

Has anyone done a DE on Falken Ziex? Last year I had Falkens in the back and Khumo 711's up front. The Khumos would get greasy after a couple laps, so I never really could feel the how the Falkens were handling.

I'm planning on running 205/60/14 for daily driving pretty soon now and I will be attending about 4 DE's this season, and I was just wondering if the Falken Ziex would be a decent choice (tire money is starting to become tight now :))?

                      Thanks

I had the Falken Ziex 512s on the 318is I just sold for the last 4 months. Great all season tire imo. Great in the wet too, it always rains in Vancouver :(. I could drive just as fast in the wet and grip just as well as if it were dry.

ZE-512's have an insanely soft compound for an all-season. They stick like glue, but also wear out as fast. Mine were literally wearing exactly the same as my RT-215's did the year before. The sidewalls are also pretty flimsy (now those are actually like an all-season tire), but good enough for street use. Adds to the comfy ride.

Perfect street tire IMO. Extremely cheap, great grip, 8439 different sizes. The treadwear sucks and the sidewalls could be stiffer, but then again they are all-seasons.
