Will 205/50/16 be too big after I lower with H&R Sports? Since you've owned RX's before, what do you think about them?

I tried to mount the Minilites this weekend and the spokes interfere with the calipers. I even put the spacer on (it is actually probably a 10 or 15mm spacer now that I've looked closer). This allowed the wheel to be mounted, but the wheel weights still contact the caliper.

Perhaps I could rebalance the tires with the wheel weights on the outer lips (cringing that it will ruin my nice old school rims) while using the spacers? I would need some extra long lug bolts as even the longish ones that fit the Sport Edition wheels would only grab by a few threads.

EDIT: the Minilite knockoffs are 14x6 with 26mm offset.

      What do you think?

Do you have any suggestions for wheel locks for the needed 45mm bolts?

No, look at my car. You can drastically lower a car with those tires. RX's are fine by me, nice subtle wheel. I still think they suit E36 bodylines better though (too new for an E30).

Hmmm, that's a shame. I wasn't aware that Minilites had such poor caliper clearance.

With those complications, I'd honestly just give up trying to use them. The cheap opt-out would be a set of basketweaves, or if you really want the Minilites grab some of those 15x7 E30 ones popping up.

Good advice...I'll put them up on Vortex.

So, about to splurge on a set of 16X9 et15 for all corners. After test mounting, the fronts will require a set of H&R 5mm spacers, and the rears go on without a hitch.

My question to you is what are the widest tires I can fit on these wheels without undergoing any serious fender massaging. Just a basic fender rolling is all I will have done. But if I can get away with it, I would love to run a 245 in the rear, or something like that. If not that, can I get away with 235s all around?

Hey, my wheels. Unless you want to try and roll the HELL outta the fenders, stick to a 205/55/15. The only 225 you'll be able to get on there is the Falken ZE-512 or ZE-912, as they run narrower than all of the other 225's. Trust me, I have 225/50/15 R-S2s and it's a never-ending rubfest in the back. No homo.

215 is about the biggest without visual fender mods, unfortunately.

I was looking through 18racing.com and saw the rota d2's. They have them in 16x7 and 4x100 but they don't offer 57.1 hub. only the 56.1. Is a hub adapter needed and also has anyone used these? i think they would look clean.

I was just looking at the same thing actually, lol, and they come in 67.1 also, simply buying hub rings will fix that, any tire shop will have them

Those RX's were my first aftermarket wheels, I went through several sets after that. Right now (and probably forever, had them for 2 years now) I have 15x7 ET20 BBS RZ378s, with polished lips (refinishing by euro3). My favourite E30 wheels, at least for a stock-bodied car. :)

As cferb posted, you can get the larger CB ones. I wouldn't recommend spending $200+ on custom one-off spacers for such cheap wheels.

Also, make sure you look at a picture of D2's from an angle. The pics they use on sites often show them head-on, and it looks like they have this awesome dish...they don't. The spokes curve back 90 degrees right at the lip, they look really weird in person. They make a few 17x8 and 17x8.5 fitments that will actually bolt up to our cars without spacers, and if they weren't so ugly I'd have bought a set. Just a heads up.
