Same codes as you! We replaced the vanos, majority of the CCV system, valve cover gasket twice (don't these suck to instal compared to a m20!), and many other things. His newest codes are for misfires in all 6 cylinders, P0170, and P0173. It gets worse though, he needs smog done by the 17th and hes high in HC's. I highly doubt its the cat cause the car just went on 100k. Its a 98' 328i e46.

I would do the whole CCV system, it gives you those random misfires because its so clogged up, and chokes air to certain parts of the engine. Check the intake spreader (mine was really clogged) too.

Wow awesome deal and nice car! The difference after cleaning the headlights is amazing.... Looks like a whole new car from the front. I loved the emojis after the valve cover replacement haha

Did some tidying today. Amazed at the results.

              Dem strut towers...

              Awesome stuff

              Polished everything with trim polish

That's all, I'd like to do the oil stand gaskets next as well as some leaky power steering components.

That looks 1000x better, and will be much nicer to work on too.

Oh yes, whenever I work on the engine now, my arm won't be covered with dirt and crap.

                    :hitler: :hitler: :hitler:

                    Lets check the plugs.

                    Burned

Wonderful. Bad plugs were causing the sluggish speeds when kicked in the ass

Time to order plugs, in the meantime....

Its the small stuff that counts

And I cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned....

                    Dirty...

                    Decided to address the bumper

Runs much better! CEL is gone and never coming back....at least I hope :)

Nice, at least spark plugs are cheap and easy :)

Easiest thing I've ever done to this car thankfully.

OMG yay. I was flipping through the pages of your thread thinking, "Please get some Gunk to clean that..." The kind in the spray bottle as opposed to the can seems to last longer too, so keep an eye out for it. ;)

Yea, Wheeler Dealers the TV show has a spray bottle like that. Gotta find out what chemical they use to degrease.
