    2.7i stroker cam questions

    Hi all, I was wondering what camshaft would be optimal for a naturally aspirated 2.7i engine (2.5 pistons, 2.7 crank and rods, 2.5 top end) I’m leaning towards either a 274 duration - 435 lift, 280/274 duration - 415 lift or a 274 duration 415 lift cam please let me know y’all’s thoughts!

      "i" pistons with a eta crank/rods are not going to work well together if at all.

      I have a 2.7i that I made from a 88 SETA. I used a stock bottom end with a Bimmerheads Head (cam: 280/274). This combo works for me.

        Sorry I should have clarified I have the “lightweight pistons (1990-1992) they have proper skirt clearance, and the 280/274 is also what I’m leaning towards, are you still using a stock ecu?

          Have you decked the block ? Pistons will be down the hole 2mm.

          i would use 274 non split with higher lift
          89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

            525 DME with a SSSquid Chip and MAF conversion.

            Digger is right about the pistons being too low in the block

              Gonna thread jack here:

              My turbo build got put on hold, but I still have all the parts for a 2.7i build with a decked block for compression. I bought a BimmerHeads 280/274 Duration – 415 Lift cam for the turbo build.

              Why would you go for a 274 non-split on this NA engine?

              I may end up with MegaSquirt and long tube headers on this car.
