I wouldn't run 95% of the chassis mounted shifters out there. I wouldn't run any chassis mounted shifter unless your running Poly or hard rubber mounts. Auto solutions makes a IMO the best shifter while keeping the stock shift console.

I recently rebuilt my shifting mechanism (metal plate), stock all around, every single wearable item replaced. While it shifts like butter (easiest shifting and feel) its like a mile long for each shift. Must be good 5-7 inches of travel between 1-2, 2-4, etc. Ive swayed away from chasis mounted shifter due to online critique. My ideal set up would be a short shifter(z3) and a dssr (reached out to multiple vendors, not one will produce it anymore). I started a few threads in the m10 forum but no luck.
Theres also this, adjustable short shifter with no need to split the ball cup. https://www.iemotorsport.com/product...t-e30-e24-e28/
PS. please differentiate in your post which shifter mechanism you are referring to, as people with the g240 without the ears are limited in their options. Similarily the non metal plate version can confuse people on both ends.Last edited by randomInteger; 12-19-2022, 07:46 PM.1984 318i Coupe 66k

I mean, it's just a steel rod with four plates on each end with holes in them.
You can buy the pin and clips from anyone that sells a kit, just don't buy the kit, buy the hardware and make the rod yourself.
I mean I don't have experience but I've seen people make them on yt and it seems like a simple enough piece.

In the mean time, if anyone reading this has a spare dssr for the m10 g240/5 drivetrain, hit me up.1984 318i Coupe 66k

I had a Z3M in my car when it had the M10. It's doable, but you have to bend it to match the shape of the E30 shifter. Also it did just rub on the driveshaft, so I had to bend the rear tab for the sheet metal shifter console up to clear said driveshaft. In case you decided this route, it is possible. Oh, and I did bend my selector rod for smoother shifts.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.
