You should atleast try to get a reduced fine/whatever. But its going to be pretty high regardless. You could also get a lawyer, I've heard good things about that.

Never ever have I ever......Nope never got a speeding ticket. You don't see to many BMW's around here so cops probably think its some old dude driving around.

i have had a couple tickets myself, one for 91 in a 55 ($380 fine, 4 points), one for 77 in a 55 ( $250 fine, 2 points), and one for following too closely (which resulted in an accident. i fell asleep. $250, no points).

i didn't have to pay any of these tickets, and i have no points on my driving record. all of these are in the past 3 years.

get a good lawyer (like i did), and make them prove you're guilty. don't just beg for forgiveness.

okay, so if they changed the limit to 10mph when it used to be 35, are you going to go 5mph?

they could make driving old cars illegal tomorrow, so as long as you don't drive an E30 you won't get arrested. that means the law is right? same logic.

I recieved a speeding ticket last year. i think it was 15 miles over limit. i was gunning it onto the freeway on ramp next thing you know im going close to 100 so i slow down. but before i slow down completley to the speed limit i get caught. so im sure this is the same everywhere in california i could be wrong. i fought the ticket. first i fought it writing. by doing this you get two chances at a trial. if you fight it in writing you have to pay the fine up front. by the time you get your ticket and your side of the story into the courts its like 5 months out. and then if you dont like the verdict you still have the option of taking it to court this will be 7 or 9 months after the incident so your chances of winning improve. but i won the case the first time when i did it in writing becuase from what i hear cops dont get paid o.t. for writing out reports only to show up in court. thats my understanding of it. and i recieved my money back and no ticket.

I'm saying if the posted limit is 10 mph, regardless if it was 75 mph yesterday, if you are going 10 mph, there is no way they can give you a speeding ticket. I wouldn't slow down, but I also wouldn't bitch much about it if I got a ticket since I was going above the speed limit.
I don't, however, agree with the speed traps and think that they are pointless and a detriment to society.

But some of these guys whine when they get caught for going 80 mph in a 65 mph zone. You were speeding, accept the consequences.

that too, but that's more economic than political.

basically bush gave the government the legal "weapons of mass destruction" it needed to monitor and control it's citizens, and now the Obama administration is using them to wack us over the heads. And as long as people have the attitude of "don't break the law and you won't get in trouble/search me I have nothing to hide" our freedoms will continue to disappear.

                            Wait, what?

Are you trying to say that we shouldn't be held accountable if we break a set law?

no, I'm saying our goverment has been passing increasingly powerful laws that either cannot possibly be enforced or they serve no purpose other than to empower the government itself.

Just because it's a law doesn't make it right. That's my point. You can look at any 3rd world country and see that.

I see your point, but when the posted speed limit is 65 mph for 500 miles in front of them, and people knowingly go faster and they get caught, there's nothing more to say about it.
