i have a question. if you are in one lane and the cop is traveling in the opposite direction is it possible for him to get an accurate speed reading on you? or would he be bullshitting you?

also. if you read our great constitution it states that you have a right to trial by jury of your peers for any case involving a sum greater than like $20!
"In Suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law." -Amendment 7 - Trial by Jury in Civil Cases. Ratified 12/15/1791.

"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence." -Amendment 6 - Right to Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses. Ratified 12/15/1791.

sooooo walk into your court date and be like um i want a trial by jury. they will drop the case. it will cost the state x3 as much to set up the trail date alone, thats if it doesnt actually see the court room, than they will get from the biggest ticket. so any judge in comon sense would drop the case on the spot.

I may be totally mistaken but in traffic cases, the judge IS the jury.

jury of your peers, not just a judge. you can demand it, you have the right to it.

my friend got off this way. im pretty sure. also alota people dont know anything about basic law, so they wouldnt know what to say. most just go, "oh sorry, ill pay." and those who challenge dont normally try this. im pretty sure it works.

I got nailed a couple of weeks ago in N Santa Barbara county by Lake Cachuma, 70 in a 55 zone. The ticket is nearly $200. I think they are writing more tickets in attempt to cover the state deficit.

Sucks to be me, first ticket in 20 years

WIth that much over, I wouldnt fight it, Id take traffic school and just be more careful or be better about seeing cops on a freeway. And its true that they have been suggested to step up the tickets to help the state. Ive had 2 tickets in 2 months both for 10 mile over the limit (40 in a 30 and 50 in a 40). Plus the police presence taking laser and radar has exploded in thelast few months. So its just obvious. Ive had my car lasered probably 6 times in the last few months. It used to happen 6 times maybe in a year. Plus they are hiding in places that in my 28 years I have never ever seen a cop. Around my house you know where are the hot spots, but in the last few months Ive seen them in extremely rare places.

You are correct. There is no jury for fighting a traffic ticket, you can either fight it through the mail or show up and almost guarantee youll be found guilty. Ive had many many successes by fighting it through mail. ANd there are countless ways this is more effective. And traffic cases are the ONLY cases in which if you get found guilty you can ask for another trial. Its called a trial de novo, and there too the judge decides.
