No sure if its true or not, but before buying my BavAuto chip for my 325is i emailed them asking if the chip was designed for WOT only or through all the rpm range. They emailed back saying that it worked through all the rpm range.

Sure - it improves the entire RPM range, WHEN at full throttle.

the bav chip is not configured for only WOT... i can feel it through the whole throttle range

the only chip i've heard about being just a WOT chip is the Dinan chip, & i've heard rumours they don't do that anymore or something :?:

Bavarian Autosport uses Autothority software for their chips, so it is not the same as Dinan's sorry programming.

                  bringing back an old thread!

Do those of you with a Conforti chip for your eta notice a decrease in fuel economy?

So which chip would be a better buy the JC or the Mark D chip? taking in acount the smoothness, powerband, and over all numbers is there any significant difference.

possibly selling my jc chip. i picked up a 535i yesterday and am deciding on what i want to do- continue building the 2.7turbo or swap the m30
would be selling it for $150 in the ecu (i believe numbers 173).

The dyno charts I've seen show a greater gain from the Mark D chip than the Jim C.

With the JC chip and the 4.10 rear I get about 20mpg around town and 27mpg at 70mph. I am not a lead foot - I r3v her to about 5K in each gear.

I dont place a whole lot of faith in dyno charts given the minor gains a chip will actually give. You can lose or gain 5 -10 hp based on the overall health of a motor, a major factor given the age and lifestyle our cars put up with.

That being said Id go with a Mark D chip. Hes done a lot for the community and puts out a good product.
