Thanks for the input guys!!! I have to concur with the comments regarding how to open up the conversation. Tomorrow is the big day though... I had to work from 8:30 til 4 today so I missed the boss and didn't even stop by, but I am going to stop by in the morning and inquire.

Question though: if I were to pull it off, and the car is NOT running, what next? I unfortunately don't have a car trailer... Should I grab one from a rental or offer compensation (assuming the car can be had for cheap) to the shop and pay for their towing service?

I don't want to jump the gun but I was wondering about this predicament.

If it's a full service shop, offer to have them to it to your house as well.

I'll just play some Jedi mind games and shit... Maybe I'll end up going home with the Bimmer, the wife, and the a free tank of gas (93 octane, offer expires 6/5/09, void where prohibited).

Maybe it's got the rare M-Technic Science kit. I hear there are only 3 in America and each came with a set of test tubes, microscopes, and a complimentary periodic table embroidered into the rear seat.

i say that you go for it.. heres a similar story.
theres a cabriolet that i pass every day!!! its been sitting in high grass(like yours) for the past 5 years.. never been moved! the house is gatted. and i sometimes have to hold myself back from running in there and asking if they would like to sell... idk what year it is. but it has plastic bumpers. so 89+ i want its bumpers. its dash has no cracks. the hood is in great shape! the car is in great shape period. so when i have the money i will go and check it out

                            Okay, two things:
                            1.) I have pictures.
                            2.) The plot has thickened.

                            First the pictures:
                            Can you spot the bimmer?
                            There it is!
Up close and shaky action shot.
                            Roof.
                            And another.
And the rear quarter panel (notice blue trim!)

Here's the story: I stopped by and the boss was not there, but I talked to a different kid. It sounds like they have absolutely no use for the thing and the previous owner is in jail. I was just asking a few general questions but he started to allude to the fact they would be more than willing to get rid of it.

That DC window sticker leads me to believe it hasn't been back there very long. Maybe even just long enough for the weeds to grow that high. And i know that kind of brush can grow to that length in not much more then a month. We used to have it around the woods in my yard.

Grab that thing. If the owners in jail there's a good chance it was just left and not ditched due to issues or something similar.

Not to mention it's windows look cleaner then mine right now.
