What jack do you like? To take to Autocross

I want to buy a jack but I want to buy an alluminum one that is not as heavy as those monstrous ones. It would be nice to have one that is light enough to put in the trunk easily for when I go to the autocross. Anyone have ones to reccomend?

    Good thread idea.
I have also been wondering what would be a good low profile jack. I have been looking for one for awhile.

I just bought an AC DK13HLQ. Pain in the ass because they stopped importing them to the US a year or so ago, but it has a min height of 3in and has a max of I think 31in. Crazy expensive though, but I figured its a lifetime tool. I've had 3 craftsman 2tons crap out on me in the past few years, so I finally got a fed up.

I have a 2 ton, square pad harbor freight, and it's great. $175. it's outlasted my buddies craftsmans, suprisingly.

You can't lift a steel floor jack in to the trunk?

$175???? You got took. I paid $80 for my 2 ton low boy at HF. Maybe its because I bought mine in the last few months, but it has worked great.

my craftsman has been fine, not sure how you guys are breaking them. It's definitely seen a lot of use, too.

anyway, as far as aluminum vs steel - steel would be best for a garage or shop, but taking one with me to track/autox, give me a light jack any day. It's not just the jack, but your extra tires, jackstands, tools, water, chairs, tent, equipment, etc. etc. Pretty soon you've got 300+lbs worth of crap in the car.

That's the one I got. $80 is a helluva deal.

My craftsman still works too but it is too tall.

Anyone use the aluminum one from Costco?

Its really a hit or miss. Ive went through 3 defective ones before they gave me one that was ok.

They would last a week before the seals became defective. The latest one Ive had about 6 months, so far so good. Honestly I wouldnt even trust it as a secondary for a clutch job..
