Would you trade your e30 for a non bmw?

lol at this attitude. pretty sure millions of kids grew up riding around in these cars. I'm also pretty sure the cars we had when I grew up were much worse than a 20 year old BMW.

I have had friends drive Vdubs for years, and the only time they ran into problems was when they starting modifications. sounds like you just got the big green wheenie of life in your wallet.

This vdub has all its records through a local vw dealership. i called just to check on what recalls it still needed and it was always on time when it needed it. Interior is roomy, quiet and comfortable. Exterior needs a good cut buff and polish. rust at all, very well maintained.

Just because your on the internet doesnt mean you can cut down on every other car YOU (anyone on r3v) dont have, never had, never drove, cant afford, or refuse to buy. Everyone has their opinions to things. there is no such thing as a car that doesnt need maintnace, attention, or parts. If you think so, sorry to burst your bubble. if you want something that you can control and maintain yourself? use your feet.

Sure i can use a truck. i have one. Its a gas guzzlin hog that is a bit high. I am not trying to be some macho family man, but i wont be the guy who makes my family suffer, either. My fiance has a really bad knee which makes getting in the truck AND e30 a pain for her, and i have some bad lower back problems, so i dont want to imagine having to put my child in or out of a carseat in a coupe e30, sorry. I want something more reliable so i dont have to worry about my roughly 300000mi car breaking down on a winter night. sorry.

So back on topic this time, what non-bmw vehicle would you trade a e30 for?

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. My jetta is about to go through it's second transmission, I have a vaccume line out, the passenger side cv axle id @ 400 bucks COST, do not buy an mk4. Don't do it. Buy a reliable car, like a suby, mazda, or toyota. Shit, even the new hundai's are better than what VW is putting out.

Even so... + ton for a 95 e34 touring. Trips to the grandparents packing up the stroller and the pack and play quickly turn into trips to all-star tournaments and cheer-leading jamborees... trust me the wagon rocks.

The e34 is the sexiest and most practical grocery getter for the buck. Friends with mini-vans will hate you.

Give me your e30 and I'll give you a 4 door chevy prizm. Basically a corolla. Never any problems, last one I had went to 260,000 miles. Done.

My E30 = dedicated track car & weekend toy. No way I would trade it.

As a daily driver that will be driven by the wife etc., I would choose an E34 540i or even 535i before I would choose an E36.

I used to own a '99 E36 323is. I never really liked it. Build quality was crap. Visibility, practicality, and reliability are all better in an E34.

OP... you need to be more specific. This thread is stupid.

And VWs suck. My GRANDMA has a 1.8t passat and has had the turbo rebuilt around 50k and it's always having stupid little problems. She's on top of maintenance too. My friend had a 1.8t jetta in high school and it was a total piece, I drove it once and the auto tranny was freaking out. It wouldn't shift, I would do anything with the gas and brakes and it was just shifting when it felt like it. My friend's 1.8t a4 did the same thing on him. AFter 100k he said it was always going to the shop and his family gave it away.

Getting a Jetta is not the asnwer for you... they are tiny too.

Sure, a e30's trade in is roughly 600, thats fine! i got well over the amount i paid for it two years ago out of it. Its low as shit, looks like a highschoolers car (which it really is anyways, seeing as there are a FEW select individuals who have a decent e30 as a garage queen), and is NOT comfortable for anyone on a decent drive. Period. if you think so, again, try growing up.
