I think you are either pretty stupid, or simply play dumb (I hope it is the later). When somebody, anywhere in the world, purchases some US-made parts such as Wilwood rotors, calipers and pads, or parts machined from US-made alloy, where do you think the money goes? Yup. You got it right this time: in American workers' pockets, because it pays their salary, and their US taxes pays your wellfare. Got it this time, Eisnstein?

You failed to realize my point though, which was that the profit you make from marking up the american made products is taxed so that your goverment can fund its third rate socialized medicine.

the total absence of anything quality is disturbing if you care at all about the future of these cars, or lack thereof.

but seriously, look on ebay, and see what you can find that isn't a cheap knock off. There isn't much, compared to 4-5 years ago.

This sucks. :( I guess its time to look at Forgeline or CCW now.
I agree with most of the sentiments in this thread, its difficult to get decent stuff for most cars these days, unless you start treading into P-car territory. Even OE replacement parts quality is going to hell quick. This is not a good trend...
And to those implying that the cost might have had something to do with the closure, nrubenstein's comment about the $300k in orders is quite telling. People WILL pay for quality. Some its out of necessity, namely the race teams, and some people are sick of the constant flood of junk out there and simply want decent parts. It's much less simple to academically assign a value to those attributes, but it's safe to say, Fikse must have been close. That said, brands like BBS, Forgeline, HRE, Jongbloed, etc. all still manage to sell wheels with competition from Rota, Sportmaxx, and the like. It's a damn good thing too, and I hope it stays that way, else imagine a Rota being the best wheel you can buy, simply because everyone else went the way of Fikse.-Dave
